About Me

Victoria Yellop

I was always very determined as a child. I knew that I wanted a life on the stage, so when at the young age of 4, I asked for a violin for my birthday, my family knew that this was not just a passing phase. They soon realised that they would have to suffer through the days, and what in turn became years, of listening to me practice hour after hour to achieve my goal, a career in showbusiness.

I loved playing in the orchestras at school and taking part in summer music courses, enjoying the social aspect of orchestral playing. I went through my time at school taking part in every extra - curricular musical activity possible, enjoying every minute of it.

After completing my G.C.S.E.'s and A. Levels, I went on to secure a place at Trinity College of Music, London, where I undertook a 4 year BMus (Hons) Degree in performance on the violin. This training has enabled me to entertain in a variety of musical styles and even though highly respected in the world of "serious" music, I have a wide spectrum of performing experience, ranging from playing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, to featuring in rock bands and providing backing to artistes such as Will Young, Vanessa Mae and Gloria Gaynor.

In 2002, I was invited to play a violin solo for Her Majesty the Queen at Windsor as part of her Golden Jubilee Celebrations, in front of a crowd of nearly 70,000 people. This performance, televised by the BBC, instigated further Royal appearances including an engagement as soloist at the Olympia Show Jumping Championships in the presence of Princess Anne. This performance led on to an invitation to entertain again at the centenary of this world - renowned horse show. I was then asked to repeat my performance for the Queen at the Royal Windsor Tattoo.

I have spent much of my professional career touring the U.K. and Europe, as a freelance performer, with different companies such as the Mike James Big Band, War of the Worlds (the stage show) and the popular Irish dance show Sprit of the Dance. I also love taking part in Variety shows and have been lucky enough to appear in many, including the Syd Little Show, The Bernie Clifton Spectacular, The Jimmy Tarbuck Show, The Get Happy Show at Margate's Winter Gardens, Melodies of the Minstrels and a production of The Good Old Days at the world famous Leeds City Varieties Theatre. I regularly appear on the international circuit and in 2010 was invited to perform for the British High Commissioner of Ghana in Accra.

I entertain regularly for serving and ex - serving members of the armed forces and appear in shows for the Not Forgotten Association and Help For Heroes. I am also an Ambassador for the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsey.

Last year, H.M. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, was a busy time for me. I toured the country performing in a show named Happy & Glorious and had engagements at both the Tower Ballroom and Opera House in Blackpool. I also continue to be in demand at military venues, including the Royal Marines Museum at Portsmouth and the Founders Day at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

I am a member of the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings, a charitable organisation with members who are ladies connected to showbusiness. The G.O.L.R. is a sister charity to the famous Grand Order of Water Rats, for whose fundraising events i regularly perform.

I am very lucky to have been afforded so many wonderful opportunites so far in my career and I am always looking forward to what's ahead.
